This week, Pastor Katie reads from Amos 5:18-24, a scripture in which the prophets of God receive a stark reminder of what coming of their savior will really entail. It’s not all joy and light, but rather darkness and trying times. They are expecting the Day of the Lord, however this day is not an arrival of salvation, but rather the departure of the lives they began to enjoy. Amos states that “It will be as though a man fled from a lion only to meet a bear, as though he entered his house and rested his hand on the wall only to have a snake bite him.” (Amos 5:19)
